    Until Aug. 15, U.S. Mint customers can receive a free 2018-W $10 American Liberty 1/10 Ounce Gold Coin when they buy a 2018-W $100 American Liberty 1 Ounce Gold Coin.

    The two-for-one special has no household ordering limits. Sales quantities, however, are limited to in-stock inventory.

    The .9999 fine 24-karat gold coins are struck in the collector finish of proof. Proofs are the U.S. Mint’s highest quality coin. They feature frosted foregrounds and mirror-like backgrounds. (As an example, see more photos of a 2017 American Liberty gold coin.)

    Both coins share the same designs and major specifications, with key differences between their sizes, denominations, and edges.

    Edges of the larger $100 gold coin carry lettering of "225TH ANNIVERSARY" in three places with a five-point star before and after each instance. Edges of the $10 gold coin are reeded.

    The larger coin is also struck in high relief.

    Current American Liberty Coin Sales

    U.S. Mint sales through July 31 show the 2017 $100 coin at 35,907 and the 2018 $10 gold coin at 49,591. Originally, the Mint placed the authorized mintages for each at 100,000 and 135,000, respectively.

    Changing Prices for American Liberty Gold Coins

    Pricing of U.S. Mint gold coins can adjust weekly depending on market conditions. Current prices for the Mint’s gold products are based on LBMA gold that averages within $1,750.00 to $1,799.99 an ounce.

    Released April 6, 2017, the $100 gold coin opened at $1,640 based on LBMA gold that was within $1,250.00 and $1,299.99 an ounce.

    Released Feb. 8, 2018, the $10 gold coin started at $215 based on LBMA gold that was within $1,300.00 and $1,349.99 an ounce.

    Titled Special Bonus Offer – Limited Time Only, an email for the special was sent to customers Aug. 1. At that time and until Wednesday, the gold pieces sold for $2,665 and $330.

    Following higher gold prices, they are now $2,715 and $335 apiece, meaning the special now saves customers $335.
